A good place to start is before they join, take a look at the top tips for working with ESYLs in your section. Talk with with your GLV, some groups have also appointed an adult to support all Young Leaders working in the group, so make sure they are aware as well. When the Young Leader has received their Young Leader Logbook, help them to fill in the Information page with details of who in the group and section will support them and then discuss and complete the Expectation section a few pages on.
Take time to talk with your Explorers about the scheme and encourage them to take part in the Modules and Missions.
The missions are an important part of the scheme. Your role will be to provide opportunities for the Young Leaders to complete the missions as part of your section programme. When the are completed the mission they are signed off in there Young Leader Logbook, (in line with whatever arrangement exist in your group) and the young leader team is informed so a mission strip can be issued.
