Horsham District Scouts is comprised of 15 Scout Groups, 8 Explorer Scout Units, a Young Leader Unit and a Scout Network Unit. There are approximately 1,400 young people involved in Scouting in the Horsham area, supported by over 500 adult volunteers. You can find out more about Horsham District Scouts at https://horshamscouts.com/
We rely on our adult volunteers to give the young people in the Horsham area opportunities to dream big, give it a go, and build skills for life. We’re always looking for people to help in all sorts of ways. We’ll help you find something that matches your skills and the time you have available. We’d love for you to get involved.
We are currently looking for:

District Administrator – we are looking for someone to join our District Support Team, specifically to provide governance administration for the District Trustee Board, to include meeting preparation, minute taking and AGM organisation. You can find further information about the role at here.

District Trustees – the District Trustee Board is a team of volunteers who work together, as charity trustees, to make sure Scouts is run safely and legally. At the heart of their role is a focus on strategy, performance and assurance. Applications from those with a background in Compliance or Finance would be particularly welcome. You can find further information about the role here.

Both the above roles require you to attend 4 District Trustee Board meetings a year, as well as the District Annual General Meeting. Depending on your responsibilities you may also be required to attend other meetings, e.g. our campsite sub-committee. Meetings are usually held on weekday evenings.

Think that you are too young to be a trustee? The Scout Association is youth shaped, and having young trustees helps to ensure young people’s views are considered when making decisions. Check out this short video of our Young Trustees telling their experiences and encouraging more young people to get involved.
